I honestly had a long ass weekend. The festivities for me started in the middle of last week. It was like Wednesday was Friday, Thursday was Friday Plus and Friday was Super Friday. Or whatever. I’m sure you understand the idea.
Okay so I was in limbo for literally two weeks about going out. I live my life as a hermit so getting out of the house can sometimes be rare. I’m that friend that says I’m busy when I’m clipping my toenails in front of my computer screen. I’ll think about it literally translates into but I need a nap. We’ll see is another of way of saying I’ll probably forget and accidentally plan something less eventful in its place. Yeah, terrible but I’m becoming more sociable.
My first stop of the week was an event named Art Babes. Art and Babes, yes. Beautiful art and the creative women behind each piece. All flaunting and supporting each other. It was such a joyous event. Everyone came out for it even the lil babies. Everything (the art, refreshments, music) was provided by women and the ability to work together as a unit was represented quite well. Once all the adults left, aside from the beautifully aged couple ball rooming their hearts away, a party started. One I wasn’t expecting but appreciated soon after!
In between my 5 day weekend I had a couple of shoots for two different projects. One was for keenanrivals.com, a photography blog that provides reviews for lighting, lenses along with different tips and tricks. Working with him for the blog was a beneficial experience and I say that because during the shoot I’ve learned a bit from him as far as posing. After that I modeled for a project called The Beautiful Faces Project. I’m not sure if it’ll be for the public on jasonramon.com, on his instagram or just another piece of artwork on a giant wall in his loft. From what’ve I seen the photos came out great as well as others from women that was present to shoot as well. Very cool experienced indeed.
With the bit of free time I had I went to Pho Lucky for the first time and had a big ass bowl of beef pho. That was also my first time eating beef tripe and tendon. I can’t even lie, I’m adventurous with food especially but tripe is very intimidating. Tripe is chewy and furry. The texture is odd and delicious. I also indulged in a jack fruit smoothie. So much was going on in my mouth. Being able to chew and drink my beverage didn’t sit well with me but hey I wanted to try something different so I can’t complain.
Friday came around and I was on a natural high from the days earlier. The momentum was undeniable so I had to step out for The Whlgn x Kid Super screen printing event at the ELEPHNT ROOM in midtown Detroit. They were able to bring in equipment to teach the public how to print their own t-shirts as well understanding the process. It’s a lot simpler than what I thought but if you’re doing an abundance of shirts it can burn your body out. The prints that were available was fire af and looked good on whatever t-shirt in whatever colors. It was also cool to witness everyone show off their personal style with each shirt. Some people used more than a few prints with a bunch of colors on one shirt. A couple even pulled off a tie-dye and/or ombre effect with the paints that was available. In the midst of waiting in between presentations music was flowing and ping-pong was on deck as well as being able to play 2K projected on a wall.
I couldn’t wait to wear my shirt so that sunday I wore it on a date to the movies to see Captain America: Civil War. Which was bomb as fuck. I mean, of course it was right? I now want to review every Marvel movie from within the past 3 years to develop a better understanding for the story itself. I’m more of a gamer than a comic head so I was there for the action but became lost in the dialogue. Other than that I was pleased with Civil War (Especially the Black Panther’s appearance, oh la la).
Welp, that was my weekend! See you all next time! <3
