AO X SDCC SuperHeroSneakPeeks!

Long have I been fan and followed the grand, marvelous, and extraordinary event known as the San Diego Comic Con or SDCC for short. Long before I visited my first comic book convention, this was an event that had the nations nerd populace bubbling. This was THEE event. Many networks, studios, and actors showcased the new and returning of our favorite series and movies and even more people came dressed as our favorite characters and creatures from the diverse universe of nerdom. While I’m sure we all have our favorite moments, this year what captured most, including me, was the slew of trailers that Marvel and DC let us fan boys munch on and dissect. These are the BEST trailers ComicCon had to offer from the most anticipated titles Marvel & DC, respectively, have been working on in the eyes of me.

MAN-O-MAN. I wanted to keep these short and sweet BUT ITS FUCKIN LUKE CAGE. Powerman himself is returning to Netflix after being featured and thee amazing psychological detective action series, Jessica Jones. I watched this trailer with my eyes gleaming with pride as Luke mobs through the projects with a car door, eating bullets, and fuckin shit up. Trying his best to clean up Hells Kitchen. But with most of Marvels Netflix series, expect layers upon layers of really deep and dark content probably centered around the indestructible man himself. If the direction of the previous Marvel Netlfix titles are any indication, expect this series to be gritty as it is action packed. It drops September 30, 2016 on Netflix, of course.

The next trailer I seen featured the Amazonian Goddess herself, Dub W, or commonly referred to as, Wonder Woman. DC premiered the trailer which featured all the glory you’d expect from the kick ass warrior herself. You see briefly see her beginnings and get an overall feel for the era and set of the film. You’ll see her in action with her shield sword and whip. The approach they’re taking with her combat shots are consistent with how nasty she was in BvS. This is probably one of my more anticipated releases seeing as Gal Gadot has shown to be the perfect Wonder Woman. From her stunning beauty to her ability to deliver Amazonian hands. Wonder Woman releases June 2, 2017.

This was one that came from left field and shocked a TON of folks. DC knocked our fuckin socks off and released a FULL trailer for the JUSTICE LEAGUE!! We got to see Batfleck recruiting the various members briefly in the trailer with more attention being shown to Flash & Aquaman. Supes was missing from the trailer but we got a full look at Cyborg pre and post transformation. We also got first full look at Ezra Miller’s as the speedster Flash and needless to say, he fits the bill to a T. Releasing in 2017 this fasho will be a must see. Continue Reading

“Captain America: Civil War” Trailer debuts and it’s flamesss

civil-war

Thursday night on the Jimmy Kimmel show we got our first look at the highly anticipated film Captain America Civil War and I’m still coming down from the high that is Marvel fanboydem. The trailer sets the story of Captain America defending his former brainwashed foe turned friend, The Winter, soldier from the Feds and ultimately Tony Stark himself. In this they show the age-old debate of if super heroes should answer to a higher authority.

The trailer shows most of the super heroes who appeared in Marvels early films ( Black Widow, Falcon etc)  but we also got a sneak peek of the man from Wakanda himself, Black Panther. In full costume at that! Our fears from earlier pics that surfaced seems to be down the drain cause the suit looks beautiful in action. Stark himself gets a lot of screen time also leading up to a cool little stand-off fight between him, The Winter Soldier, and Captain America.

Overall, shit lit beyond recognition now and May can’t come fast enough. Check it out below!- Mars

FANTASTIC FOUR OFFICIAL 2015 MOVIE TRAILER

I’m going to start off by saying this. The first Fantastic Four movie sucked a bouquet of malnourished balls. I mean technology wasn’t where it’s at today and the choice in actors…well, I guess. I guess that was what failed before but remakes happen and that’s perfectly fine. Especially in this case. Just like with any great super hero story something totally unexpected happens to a random citizen, powers come about and then the evil folks arise. Voilà, a great story emerges.

The cast consist of Miles Teller (Mr. Fantastic), Kate Mara (Susan Storm), Micheal B. Jordan (Human Tourch…*melts, coincidentally*), Jamie Bell (Thing) and Toby Kebbell (Doctor Doom). There’s other great actors buuuuuuut lets not act like we’re  here for everybody. Everyone loves the main characters but shout out to the supporting cast.

I’m super pleased with that fact that Jordan IS the Human Torch. Last year 20th Century FOX caught so much hell for casting a black man for that part REGARDLESS of him being a great actor. Fuck it uuuupppppppp Micheal yes please!!

For those who don’t understand “fuck it uuuuuppppppp” is sort of equivalent to the popular “break a leg” phrase.

The movie will be out in theaters August 17th, 2015. Get your fan tees together and enjoy <3

MELANATED WARRIORS

As I do my usual scroll down my twitter timeline yesterday morning I notice something that kinda stuck out a bit. It 3035502-0642843022-tumblhad been introduced that Miles Morales, the young, black hispanic Spider-man, was being introduced into the all new, revamped Avengers roster. While most of us are familiar with the kid, this will most definitely propel him further into the spotlight as one of the more popular black super heroes of our time… This realization sent me on a mental journey filled with childhood memories and moments that resurfaced and I thought to myself about all the black super heroes and villains I’ve come across. The strongest, the fastest, the smartest, the first, just about everything went through my mind and honestly felt as if comic books, at least some of the major publications, have tried to be as progress as possible. Adding on Marvel taking control of its movie franchise has cemented that it’ll seep over into film. Black Panther for starters. But this is just a dedication to a couple of the most beloved black heroes that have floated past a young 90’s kids pupils. Continue Reading

THE END OF ERAS

For all my geek and nerd friends out there I’m sorry to inform you guys if you haven’t already heard but Marvel is bringing to an end the Universes of its two main series alongside the “multiuniverses” that have had appearances and issues throughout the year . The Marvel and Ultimate universes we all regularly know and love are over alongside a shit load of ones we don’t. In SecretWars: Battleword characters from different earths thought alternate realities will fight in a facedown of cosmic proportions for reasons that are built in different Series for the past year. We’re promised fights along the line of Captain America vs Hulk infused Cyclops. Nick Fury vs a 1600 Punisher. Black Panther from an earth controlled Wakanda vs Thor from the Dark Reign series. Miles Morales Spider-Man vs A feral Dr. Doom. While those aren’t the matchups exactly, expect crazy shit like that to kick off throughout the whole series. Jon Moisan andis the mad mind behind this, a known editor for Marvel, responsible for later Ultimate Spider-Man issues and Avengers as well. * Confirmed teaser DR STRANGE POSSESSED PUNSIHER VS SPIDER-MAN HULK WOLVERINE AND GHOST RIDER* The realities are set to implode in May so look out for that. -MARS
